Metalaw came up with a vision of how to change the paradigm in the field of legal services in Slovakia – making the complex legal world more accessible, faster and affordable for everyone.

We've created a platform that allows easy creation of documents from templates, their digital signing with legal weight and fast legal advice through AI.

In short? Turn the vision into reality. From initial deep analysis, through the design of brand and UX/UI to the development of robust mobile and web applications and implementation of complex integrations, our team took responsibility for a comprehensive technical solution. The result is an innovative platform that saves time and money to SMEs, law firm, accountants, freelancers and public sector.

The market of legal services, like many others, faces the need for modernization and digitization. For target segments, traditional legal processes are time and financial burden. Metalaw wants to change this paradigm and show that law can also work quickly, easily and digitally.

Even the best idea has to face reality. When creating Metalaw, we had to take into account a number of technological and legislative constraints that fundamentally influenced the design and development of the platform.

Client had a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve - and this made the whole development process much faster and more efficient.

Our team could immediately focus on the most important thing: how to technically grasp this vision and transfer it into reality. The first step was a thorough functional and technical analysis before the beginning of the design and development itself. Together we walked through use-cases, defined scope and identified risks. We spent hours of analysis and workshops going over every detail. This allowed us to set a realistic scope, uncover potential problems, and design the optimal architecture for the entire system.

The biggest challenge was to flip the legal processes into a digital form:

• Document variable system: We turned traditional contracts into dynamic templates. Lawyers in the administration interface define the structure and variables, and the user will then simply complement them. This allows for quick creation of customized documents.
• Document status matrix: Each document goes through different stages - from concept to signature and archiving. We designed a matrix of states and actions that defines exactly what is possible when. We have continuously fine-tuned and refined the matrix to cover all situations that may arise in practice.
• Integration Analysis: We have thoroughly analyzed API key partners - Finstat (corporate data), Autogram on mobile (qualified electronic signature via eID library and NFC ID card reading), GetStream.io (chat), Stripe (payments and affiliates).

Design for Metalaw wasn't just about a modern interface. Our design team was tasked with turning complicated legal processes into a clear and intuitive interface that both lawyers and freelancers can use.

We created a complete visual and user experience across all platforms (iOS, Android and web). Simplicity and efficiency were a priority.

When creating the solution, we had to simplify the work with legal documents. We turned complex contracts into a system of templates and variables that is easy to understand and convenient to use.

Converting traditional documents and legal processes into digital form with dynamic variables and states is an extremely challenging process requiring detailed analysis and iterative development. The development phase was particularly challenging due to the complexity of the required functionalities and the need to integrate multiple external services.

Flexible system for generating documents with admin interface

One of the main technical challenges was to create a system that can dynamically generate documents based on user input and templates with predefined variables. This mechanism had to be flexible enough to allow for a wide range of personalization options, yet robust enough to handle more complex scenarios and document structures.

The solution includes an admin interface (backoffice system), which allows the lawyers and platform administrators to upload, manage and update templates of contracts and other documents. It is these templates, containing variables and dynamic elements, that serve as the basis for automated document generation according to specific user requirements.

The success of modern digital platforms often depends on seamless integration with key external services.

We have developed an AI chatbot built on GPT technology. We have trained it on the Slovak legislation (the Collection of Laws of the Slovak Republic) and we are continuously updating it with new laws. Users can have a dialogue with it and get quick answers to their legal questions.

Metalaw is at the beginning of its journey. Although accurate quantitative metrics will only be available after a longer period of operation, the Metalaw project is already delivering qualitative results. We have succeeded in creating a fully functional ecosystem for legal document management with no direct competitors on the Slovak market at this scale.

The platform is already helping companies and individuals save time and money, but our work doesn't stop there.

• Continuous platform enhancement - respond to user feedback, add new templates and features according to real needs.
